How is NumberBroom different from RealPhoneValidation?
Short answerThey are the closest comparison on this site: both run carrier-level validation, line type and litigator screening, and both sell self-serve with no sales call. The differences are scope and shape. They scrub the National DNC Registry, plus state and DMA lists, which we do not do at all and which requires your own SAN before a check will run. Most comparisons on this site have an easy angle. A vendor hides its pricing, or gates everything behind a demo, or turns out to sell a different product entirely. RealPhoneValidation does none of that. It sells self-serve, explicitly promises "No sales calls. No setup meetings.", and covers the same checks we do plus several we do not. It is the closest thing to a like-for-like competitor we have written about, and this page is more useful if it says so plainly.
On scope, they cover more
They scrub the National DNC Registry, state registries and the DMA list. They publish a fraud risk score, a Reassigned Numbers lookup and email verification alongside the phone checks. We do carrier-level validation, line type, an activity score and a litigator check, and on the graded tier we add name matching and email deliverability. On breadth, they are ahead.
The registry half comes with a credential you have to hold
Their site states that a SAN, Organization ID and expiry must be entered before a DNC check will run. That is not a quirk of their product -- National DNC Registry access runs under the seller's own Subscription Account Number from the FTC, and every registry vendor requires it.
It is worth knowing which side of that line your problem sits on. If you need registry scrubbing, you need a SAN either way, and a vendor that offers it is the right shape. If your exposure is dead numbers, wrong line types and serial filers, none of that needs a credential and the registry half is not doing anything for you.
Where the difference actually is
Two tiers against eight products is the honest distinction, and whether it counts in your favour depends entirely on how you buy. Choosing between Scrub, Scrub Plus, DNC Lookup, DNC Plus, Turbo Standard, TurboV3, Wireless ID and email verification is straightforward if you already know which checks you need. It is friction if the reason you are here is that you do not.
Our answer to that is one price for one job: $0.20 a row runs validation, line type, activity scoring and the litigator check together, and $0.55 adds grading on top. You see the total for your actual row count before paying. The $5 floor exists so a 30-row list is a decision you can make without arithmetic.
Delivery differs too. Their batch files come back by email, in their words within 2 to 30 minutes. Ours runs in the browser session you started it in.
Which to pick
- You need DNC registry scrubbing. They do it and we do not. Get a SAN and use a registry vendor.
- You run lists continuously, at volume. Their model is built for repeat, high-throughput use and ours is not. Price the two against your actual annual volume before assuming.
- You have one file and want an answer today without picking a SKU, registering, or supplying a credential for a check you did not want. That is the case we are for.

Do I need a SAN for NumberBroom?
No, because we do not query the registry. Carrier-level validation and litigator screening are commercial data checks that touch no registry, so there is no credential to obtain and nothing to register before uploading a file. That is a smaller product, not a cleverer one -- if registry scrubbing is a live obligation for you, you need a SAN and a registry vendor, and this is not one.
What about the free trial?
They give the first 100 validations free, restricted to verifiable businesses and one trial per company. Ours is shaped differently: the free lookup checks a single number with no signup at all, and the free assessment grades up to 300 rows of a real file. Theirs is a larger sample gated on being a verifiable business; ours is smaller and open. Which is more useful depends on whether you can clear their gate today.
Which one is right for a small, occasional list?
It depends on how you buy. If you are comfortable choosing between their products, can supply a SAN where one is needed, and expect to run lists repeatedly, they are built for that pattern. If you have one file, want the total before committing to anything, and would rather not decide between eight SKUs to find out what a check costs, that is the case we are built for.
