Short answerThe DNC Project (theDNCproject.org) sells four separate scrubs: the National Do Not Call Registry, ten state lists, a litigator list and mobile or landline. As of 21 September 2026 its calculator quotes the litigator scrub at a flat $129 for any list size it will take, from 10 numbers to 2 million. NumberBroom charges per row instead: $0.20 per number, $5 minimum, with lower rates past 2,000 rows, and every job includes carrier, line type and an activity score. So NumberBroom costs less for a litigator check on a list under 645 rows, and The DNC Project costs less above that. NumberBroom also caps a file at 10,000 rows and checks only the federal registry, under your own SAN, on lists of up to 1,000 numbers, and no state list. The DNC Project checks both.

The DNC Project (theDNCproject.org) is a scrubbing service run, in its own words, by telemarketers for telemarketers. It overlaps with NumberBroom on the TCPA litigator check and, in part, the federal registry, which NumberBroom checks only under your own SAN on lists of up to 1,000 numbers; its state-list scrubs NumberBroom doesn't offer. On large lists its litigator price is far lower, so this page starts there.
The short version
On 21 September 2026, The DNC Project's calculator quoted $129 for a litigator scrub at any size, from 10 numbers to 2 million. NumberBroom charges $0.20 a row for the first 2,000, so the two meet at 645 rows. Below that, NumberBroom costs less. Above it, The DNC Project does, and the gap widens with every row. The DNC Project also scrubs the federal and state Do Not Call lists, where NumberBroom checks only the federal registry, under your own SAN, on lists of up to 1,000 numbers.
NumberBroom is the better fit for small or occasional lists, for a file you want already filtered down to rows that are safe to dial, and for carrier and activity data in the same price.
NumberBroom's DNC check is narrow
NumberBroom checks line type, carrier and activity, and screens for known TCPA litigators. Its only registry check is the federal one, under your own SAN, on a signed-in scrub of up to 1,000 numbers; it never checks a state list. What comes back is different
The DNC Project marks each row and returns your whole file: a Y or N in is_litigator, and the same for each other scrub you bought. NumberBroom returns only the rows that passed, in one file, *_clean.csv, with your original columns untouched and line_type, carrier, activity_score and scrub_status added. Litigator matches are removed and counted, and NumberBroom doesn't reveal which rows they were.
Both services keep a dated record of every scrub. The DNC Project advertises a "100% accuracy guarantee". Its terms of service, effective 3 July 2026, disclaim any warranty of accuracy and say accuracy statements in its marketing are qualified by that disclaimer.
Where each one fits
- You need the DNC registry, state lists and litigators together. The DNC Project covers all of them. NumberBroom covers litigators and, on lists of up to 1,000 numbers under your own SAN, the federal registry, but no state list.
- Your lists run to thousands of rows. The DNC Project's flat litigator price is far cheaper, and it takes files far larger than NumberBroom's 10,000-row limit.

Its pricing page has a calculator rather than a price list, and each scrub is priced separately. On 21 September 2026 it quoted $129 for a litigator scrub at every quantity we entered, from 10 numbers to 2,000,000. The federal DNC scrub started at $35 and rose with volume ($78.87 for 10,000 numbers), the ten state lists were $99, and mobile or landline detection was $35 up to 10,000 numbers. Is The DNC Project cheaper than NumberBroom?
For a litigator check on a list of 645 rows or more, yes. Its $129 flat price equals NumberBroom's $0.20 rate at 645 rows. A 2,000-row list is $129 there and $400 at NumberBroom, and a 10,000-row list is $129 there and $1,280 at NumberBroom. Under 645 rows NumberBroom costs less: 100 rows are $20, and a list under 25 rows is the $5 minimum. NumberBroom's price also includes carrier, line type and an activity score. Does NumberBroom check the Do Not Call Registry like The DNC Project does?
Only the federal registry. A signed-in paid NumberBroom scrub includes a federal Do Not Call Registry check, under your own FTC subscription (SAN), included free on lists of up to 1,000 numbers. It never checks a state list, and won't call a number on a larger list registry-clear. The DNC Project scrubs the federal registry and ten state lists. What does each one give back?
The DNC Project's pricing cards say each scrub adds a column to your file: is_litigator as Y or N, on_dnc as Y or N, and is_mobile as M, or L for a landline or VoIP number. You filter the file yourself. NumberBroom does the filtering. You get one file of the rows that passed, with your original columns intact and line_type, carrier, activity_score and scrub_status added. Litigator matches are removed and counted but never listed. Both keep a dated record of each scrub.
